Exemption of Copays for Some VA Services

The copays of certain services for the veterans can be exempted irrespective of the disability rating or priority assessment group they are assigned. The services that can be exempted from copays are as follows:

  • The VA special registry examinations to evaluate the health issues and risks connected to the service in the military
  • Copays for the pension and compensation examinations that the VBA requests.
  • Care and counseling services for sexual trauma in military
  • Care that is part of a VA approved research project
  • Service-related disability care rated by VA
  • Counseling for readjustment and PTSD mental health care
  • Treatments in case of emergencies at facilities other than VA
  • Head or neck Cancer care due to radium treatments during the service period in military
  • Public health initiatives or health fairs announced by VA
  • Veteran care for those who were in combat service during a hostile period after 11th November 1998.
  • Flat film lab services
  • Services like electrocardiograms and radiology
  • And also for the screening tests for prevention of diseases like colorectal cancer, hypertension, alcohol, hepatitis C, tobacco, etc. and also for immunization against pneumococcal and influenza viruses
