What is Combat-Related Special Compensation?

Military retirees are given a monthly compensation, Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC), which replaces all or part of their retirement pay withheld due to receipt of VA compensation. CRSC is paid for any disabilities suffered during combat or while performing dangerous duty or as a result of war. The amount paid for CRSC depends upon the evaluation of the combat-related disability or disabilities; however, it is always less than the amount of withheld retirement pay.
