What happens in the case when a veteran has an obstetrics-related emergency prior to enrolling?

Fee-basis care is authorized in advance when an enrolled woman veteran is pregnant. When there is a case of obstetric emergency, the woman veteran can get help from the hospital and the charges will be reimbursed for services under the contract regulated by VA. Enrolment for VA healthcare can be done by eligible veterans as soon as possible during their pregnancy to access maternity care offered to women veterans by non-VA providers.
