What does VA provide for veteran burials?

VA pays for burial benefits including a gravesite in any national cemetery with available space, the opening and closing of the grave, perpetual care, a Government headstone or marker, a burial flag, a grave liner and a Presidential Memorial Certificate. All of these benefits are provided at any of the 133 national cemeteries for free. Some veterans are entitled for Burial Allowances as well. Burial benefits may also be given to spouses and dependents.
