Should states be allowed to display the Confederate flag on government property?

South Carolina State Government law mandates that the Confederate flag be flown on the ground of its state capitol building. Opponents argue that the flag symbolizes a time when racial inequality was acceptable and serves no real purpose. Those in favor say that the flag is an important historical symbol that commemorates the state’s role in the Civil War.

The Confederation seceded from the Federal government, thereby forming their own country. They lost the ensuing way, thereby resulting in the defeat if their nation. Unfortunately that also included all the land that was governed by that nation, as well. If we as a nation mandate or even allow the flags of defeated countries to be flown at it government buildings then we should also be flying the Mexican flag at government buildings in California and Texasv and every Native American tribes flash, as well.
The racism associated with that symbol should really not be the argument against this flag. The right to harbor racist beliefs is encompassed in the standard American flag, like it or not. The concert flash should not be flown at government buildings because it is the flag of a nation that was defeated in war by the Federal government.

Absolutely! I may not support what the confederacy was. It is still apart of our nations history. Therefore it should not be forgotten.
