Should a business be able to deny service to a customer if the request conflicts with the owner’s religious beliefs?

Civil Rights Act dictates that businesses cannot deny services to people based on race, color, religion or national origin. However, the act does not address whether business owners have the right to refuse service based on their own religious beliefs; therefore, states have been able to adopt religious freedom laws that allow businesses to do so. These laws have had an impact on customers belonging to minority groups.

There is a strong argument that right to deny service to customers is legal discrimination, whereas many insist government should not legally restrict how people run their private businesses.

What are your thoughts? Do you think businesses should be able to deny service to customers based on personal religious beliefs?
