Deciding on How to Use Your Education Benefit

I parted from service in the Navy during the year 2009 and by that time I had obtained my associate’s degree already. Hence it means that I would have finished my bachelor’s degree in two years time period. To make use of the benefits for Veteran education in order to get my bachelor’s degree, one obvious option was the Post-9/11 GI Bill using which my previous education in school was made.
As per the Post-9/11 GI Bill, almost 100 percent of the Veteran education’s tuition fee is covered and this can be benefited by those Veterans that have successfully finished their service in military for at least a minimum of 36 months or more. Apart from this benefit, the veterans can also avail a housing allowance for every month, and also obtain about $1,000 each year as a stipend for buying books and other necessary supplies. Veterans who have service of less than 36 months time can also benefit under the Post-9/11 GI Bill but can only get a lesser percentage of the benefits.
The Veterans can pursue their education and schooling without dropping out from their studies for the sake of their jobs which is the main purpose why the Post-9/11 GI Bill was designed. Those veterans who are enrolled as students in the schools can obtain their monthly allowance for housing that is equivalent to the E-5 with the school’s zip code of the BAH rate of the dependents. For a detailed info about the monthly housing allowance you can look up on the website of the Military Connection and check the rate in the BAH calculator provided on the site. Also a veteran student will not get the monthly allowance payment when he is not enrolled in the class.
In order to utilize the Post-9/11 GI Bill, the Veterans should at least have a part time job and wisely plan for their breaks in semester. Veterans can take up a number of part time jobs such as security guard personnel and others that provides more hours in the weekends and night. The most generous and beneficial bill that can be used by the Veterans today is the Post-9/11 GI Bill. Hence the Veterans can make the most of this benefit and fulfill their needs and goals.
Veterans can think about the benefits of the Montgomery GI Bill but this bill is useful to only pay a flat rate fee each month, irrespective of whatever place in the country they live in. The veterans apart from paying this money for housing will also have to manage the expenses met for all the other things like books, tuition, fees and school supplies. It is also important to notice that this Montgomery GI Bill pays a flat rate that is currently $500 lesser than that which the Post-9/11 GI Bill pays as monthly allowance for housing.
Hence the veteran GI Bills should be chosen wisely according to every person’s type of needs. Whatever the GI Bills are chosen by the Veterans they can surely make use of these benefits to accomplish their goals in academics and career.
