Here are the steps: Select a property and then determine the purchase price with the agent or seller. A purchase contract must be signed when the VA home loan gets approved. A lender needs to be selected and presented with the Certificate of Eligibility, if any. The loan application must be submitted. The Certificate of Eligibility can be obtained by the lender on behalf of the service member. The lender will develop the income and the credit information. They need to place a request with VA regarding the issue of a licensed appraiser to determine the reasonable value of the property being considered. Note: The member needs to submit a credit report as well as appraisal until the seller agrees to make payments. The loan decision will be provided by the lender. If the income and credit are acceptable, the loan should be approved. You and your spouse are required to attend the loan closing. The closing attorney or the lender will explain all requirements and terms of the loan, including monthly payments. Sign the note, mortgage, and other related papers.
