Federal Long-Term Care Insurance Program

TRICARETRICARE for Life, and most civilian health care plans specifically exclude long-term care from coverage.  Long-term care refers to the care required when an individual requires assistance to get through day-to-day living, often resulting in admission to an assisted living facility or nursing home.  These services are often incredibly expensive and can wipe out any financial assets accrued over a life of service.  To offset these potentially devastating costs, the federal government has established Long-Term Care Insurance Program, and there are plans available from private companies as well.
