Does VA ever provide bereavement (grief) counseling to families of active duty service members killed in action?

Yes, VA provides grief counselling to parents, spouses, and children of veterans who died while in service. They also provide counselling to families of reservists and National Guardsman. The counselling is free of cost and provided at Vet centers. You can call the Readjustment Counselling Service at 202-273-9116 or email them at vet.center@hq.med.va.gov.
