Does VA accept a property with a dug well and, if so, are there any requirements on the well?

Drilled wells are less vulnerable than dug wells to contamination of the surface water as they draw shallow water from tables. But if a dug well is appropriately constructed, the water quality will be high. There are no specific requirements in regards to dug wells as compared to drilled wells or driven wells. Any well that provides water for domestic purposes is required to meet the country, local, EPA, or state standards for well construction, location, and placement.
