“Although teen pregnancy rates have declined in recent decades, the U.S. rate is still one of the highest in the developed world. Studies have pointed out that unsafe sex practices because of a lack of awareness is a significant contributory cause.
Proponents believe that organizations who are educating teens about safer sex practices should continue to receive federal funding as their goal is in the interest of nation. They further argue that fewer teen pregnancies will reduce the burden which child care puts on the U.S economy. Opponents consider this funding as an unnecessary burden on the already staggering economy.
