Did you know that Military retirees should update their DEERS record and Military Retiree ID Card when eligible for Medicare?

Did you know that retired military personnel should update their DEERS records Retired Identification Card after becoming eligible for Medicare, usually at the age of 65? The new, updated Identification Card must have a lifetime expiration limit. Moreover, your Social Security Number is no longer displayed on the new Identification Card. Instead, there is a Department of Defense Benefits Number printed on the back of the card, while a new ID number, issued by the Department of Defense, is printed on the front side of the card. In case you have a Retiree Identification Card with a Social Security Number printed on it, you may get the new card at your earliest convenience. You may save some time by applying for an appointment over the internet. To do so, go to the appointment scheduler at https://rapids-appointments.dmdc.osd.mil. Please keep in mind that you must bring along two government-issued forms of identification.
