Can I reopen a claim for disability compensation?

Can I reopen a claim for disability compensation if I have developed more physical ailments subsequent to the determination for my service-connected disability? A supplemental disability claim may be filed at any time. To reopen a previously denied case, new material evidence indicating why a new connection is warranted must be submitted. If you already have a service-connected disability and your condition or disability has worsened, then it may be sent for a re-evaluation. For a new condition, you will need to note down on blank paper what the condition is, when it began and from where you received treatment. When your claim and the military medical records are received by VA, the process will start. However, you will need an authorized release form for conditions which are treated by private doctors. You will need to provide your VA claim number with all correspondence. For further assistance, please call 1-800-827-1000 weekdays from 8:30 am – 4 pm.
