You do not get disqualified for VA home loan in cases where you or your spouse have been judged for bankruptcy. Below are the rules which apply to such cases: РThe bankruptcy is not considered if it was discharged more than 2 years back РIn cases where bankruptcy was discharged in the last 1 or 2 years, it would not be possible to determine whether you or your spouse are at satisfactory credit risk until both of the requirements are fulfilled. РUntil you and your spouse have re-established the credit according to the standard requirements. РThe reason and circumstances of you or your spouse’s bankruptcy was beyond your control, like medical bills, unemployment, etc. РIn cases where the bankruptcy was discharged within the last 12 months, it will not be possible for you and your spouse to determine the standard credit risks.
