Am I eligible for free prescriptions?

Copayments for medication are charged for every 30-day supply of medication provided on an outpatient basis for non-service connected conditions. There are exemptions from this, especially for veterans who have service-connected disability ratings of 50% or higher, veterans with an income below the established threshold, and former POWs. Veterans who receive medication to treat conditions related to ionizing radiation, Agent Orange, military sexual trauma, Persian Gulf, and specific cancers of the neck and head are also exempt from the medication copayment. Current combat veterans are not charged copayments for 2 years after their discharge from service, especially if receiving treatment for military service related conditions.
